Awards and Recognition

Aging Services of Minnesota honors outstanding members of the older adult services field. From pioneers who created new options in housing and care for older adults to those whose commitment to care giving is shown through lengthy, honorable service, Aging Services recognizes members through an extensive awards program.

Spring Awards
Presented at the annual Aging Services of Minnesota Institute. A series of highly coveted, statewide awards honor those who go above and beyond their ordinary duties to enhance the quality of life for senior and for their communities.

INDIVIDUAL AWARDS
Caring Heart Award - Direct Care

Honor those who greatly enhance the quality of life for seniors and their communities through their direct care to residents. This list is not all inclusive; feel free to nominate any direct care provider.

Caring Heart Award - Support Care
Honor those whose support to caregivers enhances the quality of life for seniors and their communities.

Caring Heart Award - Volunteer
Honor volunteers who enhance the quality of life for seniors and their communities.

Kal Michels Administrator Leadership Award
Honor administrator whose work and leadership has enhanced the work environment in their LTC facility and the quality of life for residents and community; provide leadership to staff and provide community service.

Ray Johnson Senior Housing Leadership Award
Recognize individual whose actions and leadership exemplify Aging Services values in senior housing and have promoted excellence, quality and high standards in the senior housing industry.

Leadership in Action Award
Honor those whose actions and leadership greatly enhance the work environment in their housing or LTC building and the quality of life for their residents; and have taken action to provide leadership to their employees. This award is given to a person in a leadership or management role but not the top executive in the organization (administrator, housing director, CEO).

Trustee Leadership Award
Honor a volunteer board member of a member organization whose service and actions have enriched the lives of older persons and enhanced their community.

Resident Spotlight Award
Presented to a resident of an Aging Services member community who has helped bring a resident perspective to Aging Services of Minnesota and/or helped to educate and inform other residents.

Aging Services Award of Honor
Presented to a distinguished individual who has provided outstanding, significant leadership in creating the future of aging services in Minnesota and reinforcing Aging Services of Minnesota's fundamental values.

ORGANIZATIONAL AWARDS
Workplace Spotlight Award
Honors an older adult services organization that excels in enhancing employee satisfaction through basic or creative retention strategies, improvements that have been made to the work environment, retention efforts and how employee work satisfaction has benefited from these improvements.

Living Our Mission Award
Recognizes an organization that holds true to its mission which demonstrates the foresight and passion of its founders and reflects unique community needs or tenets of faith; yet demonstrates flexibility in meeting the needs of our changing times.

Community Impact Award
Honors a member organization that goes beyond the health service or housing role to support and/or improve the community; extended services beyond the traditional scope of resident care and demonstrates social responsibility and the organization's role as a responsible corporate citizen.

Business Partner Spotlight Award
Honors a business partner or Alliance Purchasing/Aging Services Group vendor organization that provides added benefits to the overall Aging Services membership while helping advance the advocacy efforts of the association.

OTHER AWARDS (presented at various times)
Spirit of Advocacy Award
Recognizes individuals, groups or organizations that have performed exceptional advocacy on behalf of older adult services.

Excellence in Media
This award recognizes outstanding achievement by a media representative or media organization in covering older adult services or related issues.

Legislative Champion Award
Given to sitting Minnesota legislator for exceptional support and sponsorship of issues related to older adult services.

Lifetime Achievement Award
Retiring members whose achievements throughout the years have inspired others and contributed to the formation and goals, governance and initiatives of Aging Services of Minnesota.

Honorary Membership
Retired members who have been active in voluntary leadership within the association throughout their career.
