CMS Addresses Concerns About Observation Days, Requests Comments

On July 30th, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services published a proposed rule that seeks advice on clarifying the appropriate use of observation days in hospitals.  The question is important for member SNFs because observation days do not count as part of the three-day inpatient stay necessary for Part A reimbursement in an SNF.
